Michigan Capitol Heritage Hall Visitor Center

The Heritage Hall Welcome Center serves as a new, safer public entry to the Michigan State Capitol, which welcomes more than 115,000 visitors annually. There are two new orientation rooms where tour groups begin their visit and an impressive 200-foot-long exhibit wall where the history of the building is displayed.

The addition blends new and old elements and provides a state-of-the-art 300-person multi-function assembly space for both public and legislative events with adjacent open atrium with views to the Capitol dome. There is also space for conservation and collections of historic artifacts to be stored, restored and displayed.

As part of a previous infrastructure upgrades project, a new underground Central Utility Plant (CPU) was built and a geothermal energy field was installed on the west side of Capitol Square – the same location as Heritage Hall.
