For 24 years, Gilda’s Club Grand Rapids has been providing free emotional health support community for children, adults, families and friends on their cancer journey or those grieving the loss of a loved one due to any cause of death, not just cancer.
For the past five of those years, The Christman Company has served as a proud partner of the organization, providing volunteer hours and charitable contributions.
Christman ELPs have volunteered time to help construct an outdoor patio space attached to the Clubhouse, served meals to members of the organization and volunteered for annual spring grounds clean-up.
“Gilda’s Club Grand Rapids has been on the receiving end of The Christman Company’s commitment to uniting great people around important causes and building lasting relationships,” said Gilda’s Club Grand Rapids President and CEO Wendy Wigger. “The philanthropic culture that has been built within the company itself and in the hearts of its employees has impacted our organization on so many levels.”
In total, Christman employees have contributed $8.436 to Gilda’s through the Be Constructive giving program in the past five years. That amount means Gilda’s was able to provide 169 free grief and cancer support sessions to people in the community.
“From personal employee donations, fundraisers, and corporate sponsorships to in-kind gifts of time and talent to address the capital project needs of Gilda’s Club, the impact of support has been deeply felt and greatly appreciated,” Wigger added. “Each of these endeavors has helped us ensure our ability to continue delivering on our mission of providing emotional health support for anyone on a cancer journey or navigating grief due to a death in their lives—remains free of charge to anyone in need.”
Gilda’s Club is a place that brings joy and laughter during some of the most difficult times of life. Their mission is built on the belief that community is stronger than cancer. Christman is proud to support the mission of Gilda’s club.
