Tom directs key historic preservation projects in all regions. A trained architect, preservation professional and highly competent construction manager, Tom’s broad range of skills have enabled him to add value to our clients’ most challenging historic building projects. He joined Christman as project manager in 2000, was promoted to project executive in 2006, and promoted to vice president in 2017. His passion and strength is creativity, helping teams early in project development gather hard to find information to make good decisions on cost and schedule while the design is in progress.
In addition to directing historic preservation in the DC Metro region, Tom also heads up the technical resources and training of historic preservation personnel for Christman’s national Historic Preservation Group. Tom has served on the Association for Preservation Technology and was inducted into its College of Fellows in 2021. He is a member of the District of Columbia Preservation League’s Project Review Committee. On his days off, Tom enjoys working with his hands. He builds more furniture from recycled cardboard than his family can stand. He also enjoys woodcarving and occasionally building boats. He is a lifelong skier and hiker, getting to the slopes in the Appalachians and Rockies as much as he can.
