Architect of the Capitol
After successfully completing the 2009 Presidential Inaugural Stands, Christman returned four years later to take on the high-profile project again. The 2013 Presidential Inauguration of Barack Obama had an official theme of “Faith in America’s Future,” marking the 150th anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation and the placement of the Statue of Freedom atop the Capitol Dome in 1863.
The project included constructing all of the raised wood platforms for the President and Vice President, military band, VIP Guests, Senators, and members of the House of Representatives. It included special exiting, security enhancements and TV tower and media stand construction. The entire system was constructed in three months and then removed in three weeks after the swearing-in.
