Sparta Area Schools

2016 Bond Program

In 2016, the Sparta Area Schools community passed a bond issue to make district-wide improvements, including construction of a new middle school, new football stadium and athletic complex, renovations to two elementary schools, partial demolition and renovation of the existing middle school for early childhood care and an auxiliary gym, and minor renovations to the high school.

The construction of a new Spartan Stadium and athletic complex replaced the district’s aging stadium and provided the Sparta community with a new football and soccer stadium that accommodates 2,500 people, along with a new track, concessions building, restroom building, team room building, and artificial turf field. In addition to the stadium, the project included new varsity baseball and softball fields, a new practice football field, and parking improvements.

In an effort to minimize disruptions to the district’s school year schedule, Christman implemented a fast-paced construction schedule to complete as much work as possible during school breaks and summer months.
