Asheville Foundry Inn

For years, the Asheville Supply and Foundry Company famously provided steel and other equipment used to construct North Carolina icons. When it closed in 1950, five independent structures were left abandoned. In 2017, the Preservation Society of Asheville and Buncombe County stepped forward with the intent to return the historic Asheville Foundry site, which was otherwise set to be demolished, to its former glory and transform it into a first-class hospitality facility. The buildings had been vacant for several decades and were in extreme disrepair with a need for significant updating.

The Christman Company partnered with Encore Lodging and Studio Z Architecture to rehabilitate the buildings into a boutique hotel. Today, the design and layout of the Asheville Foundry Inn, an 87-room luxury hotel, provide an unrivaled and unique experience for guests. The renovation and overall design of the facility is a stunning meld of old and new, all completed with the guidance and supervision of the North Carolina State Historic Preservation Office and the National Parks Service, ensuring that the historic fabric of the spaces would be preserved while the functionality of the buildings could be modernized.
