Baylor Scott & White
Baylor Scott & White chose Christman (then MEDCO Construction) to construct a two-story vertical expansion adding 48 new patient rooms. The project scope also included a renovation and expansion to other key areas.
Christman faced the challenge of working in this fully operational hospital while ensuring there were no disruptions to normal activities. In adding the two new floors, the sixth floor was finished first and the fifth floor second because of the support system and the shoring – which required steel beams for reinforcement. Building Information Modeling (BIM) was utilized. Roofing coordination was also critical because cores had to be water-proofed and sealed with temporary roofing to prevent water from leaking into the structure.
