Brembo North America
In an effort to broaden its industrial capacity in Michigan, Brembo, a global leader in the design, development and production of braking systems for the automotive and motorcycle markets, selected Christman as general contractor to construct a state-of-the-art cast iron foundry with a 200,000 s.f. production floor. The new facility, which created 250 jobs, has the ability to produce an annual output of up to 80,000 tons of brake disc castings.
Working on an aggressive 14-month schedule with integrated equipment installation, the team coordinated with Brembo to meet each milestone and orchestrate a safe, fast-paced, high-output construction schedule. Christman also managed a comprehensive value analysis effort to reduce the construction cost by over $8 million, allowing the project to move forward. In addition, the team created a fully coordinated 3D BIM model of the building structure, architectural features, mechanical, electrical, and fire protection systems, working with Brembo’s suppliers to obtain 3D equipment files and providing the company with a functional BIM model for building management services.
