Schar Center

Elon University’s Schar Center serves as a premier gathering space for the University’s community and its surrounding region. As the largest facility on campus, the Schar Center holds 5,100 seats and tripled the capacity previously accommodated at the existing alumni gymnasium. It provides a venue for convocations, speakers and other major campus events. The arena is home to the Phoenix basketball and volleyball teams and includes a spacious entry atrium, a large practice gymnasium, locker room and team facilities, and a hospitality room for special events.

Working on a fast-paced schedule, Christman completed the building a full four months ahead of schedule. The project team continued working on site to complete owner-issued change orders, including extra touches that make the Schar Center all the more inspiring. Having the project done early allowed the University to begin using the facility prior to the fall semester, which provided the opportunity for numerous athletic recruits to visit and get a look at the impressive new space.
