Duke LifePoint Healthcare
Franklin Medical Center’s new 14,620 s.f. behavioral health unit allows medical staff to care for the mental health needs of patients with a goal of enhancing their quality of life. With safety as a top priority, all systems and finishes were designed to be tamper resistant to avoid any danger to patients. Interior finishes included gypsum wallboard, specialty flooring, acoustical ceilings, an aluminum storefront and behavioral health windows.
The project also included construction of a roof top unit, generator and an automatic and manual transfer switch, as well as site demolition, tree removal, new site paving, grading and drainage, concrete foundations, concrete retaining walls, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and fire alarm and fire protection systems.
The team worked through several obstacles, including a delay in schedule caused by rock and unsuitable soils on the project. Working closely with Terracon Consultants and the civil engineer allowed the team to get immediate direction and solve issues quickly. As a result, it reduced a potential 75-day delay into only 10 additional days.
