Embassy of France in the USA

French Ambassador Residence Renovations

The French Ambassador’s Residence was challenged with significant water infiltration and associated damage caused by faulty plumbing and roof failure in isolated locations. There were also significant issues with the building’s HVAC and electrical systems. The embassy decided to use this renovation as an opportunity to upgrade finishes in prominent locations and complete necessary architectural repairs. This was the first comprehensive system replacement of the Ambassador’s Residence in over 50 years.

The project included a full replacement of the mechanical and electrical systems, as well as replacement of selected plumbing elements. Work on the interior of the building included painting, installation of new carpet and refinishing of the wood floors. The main kitchen and pastry kitchen received upgraded equipment and new work surfaces. Exterior work included the replacement of two flat roofs and the investigation and repair of roof leaks. In addition, a new service ramp leading to the basement was installed.
